ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev told during the Astana Economic Forum that it was highly important to not let stagnation of the economy of Kazakhstan happen.

"I think that the main challenge for Kazakhstan is to not let the stagnation of our economy happen. Formerly, during the Soviet Union time Kazakhstan was a country of resources. Now we are trying to build our independent economy, we have done a lot already. Over 800 new plants have been built over the independence period and 1.5 million jobs have been created. All the countries that began their independence way at the same time as we did eventually got into the trap of 13-15 thousand US dollars income per person and then stopped in their development. This trap is a dangerous thing, we have to avoid it," the Head of State noted.

"We developed "Nurly Zhol" Program and we allocated a lot of money for its implementation. This program will have a good multiplicative effect," N. Nazarbayev added.
