N.Nazarbayev received Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers- Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, the Akorda press service said.

The sides discussed the key directions of bilateral cooperation, realization of the agreements reached previously, urgent issues of the international agenda. As the President noted, Turkmenistan is Kazakhstan's fraternal country.

"We have always enjoyed good economic and political relations, and are ready to further them. Now we have to complete an important project - construction of the railway from Kazakhstan via Turkmenistan and Iran to the Persian Gulf to bring our trade relations to a brand new level," Nursultan Nazarbayev said. In his turn, Meredov briefed on the Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran railroad construction progress. He also highlighted development of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, transport and communications, fuel and energy, cultural and humanitarian fields.
