N. Nazarbayev: We will have to double our food production in next 30 years
"We have to find ways how to prevent our countries from possible upcoming calamity. The global expert analytical network G-global was established for finding solutions to our present problems," N. Nazarbayev told.
President Nazarbayev noted that the next wave of challenges threatening our development and prosperity is being formed.
"We can witness the collapse of the formerly successful political systems globally, decline of confidence between the leaders of great powers and corrosion of the international law. International institutions cannot guarantee peace and stability which we all hoped for before. The second factor is climate change and pandemia. The climate is changing faster than we all expected, it worsened the consequences of natural disasters. The disaster hit Nepal, and the world community did not respond properly, neither extend a helping hand to that country," N. Nazarbayev said.
The third challenge outlined by the President is in globally increasing food deficit. It is conditioned by three factors which are the population growth, income growth and urbanization.
"We will have to double food production in the nearest 30 years. Moreover, we have to do it in the period when the earth resources are already depleted," the President of Kazakhstan told.
