National Cancer Center to be set up in Astana

ASTANA. February 3. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ A National Cancer Center is to be created in Astana. Deputy Prime Minister Yerbol Orynbayev has given such an instruction at a board meeting of the Ministry of Healthcare.

"The first task is decline in mortality from cancer and establishment of a national cancer center in Astana. The President gave a specific instruction," Y.Orynbayev said to Minister Salidat Kairbekova.

"Our statistics shows that there are many problems in this sphere, the system is not modernized for a long time," he emphasized.

"Hence for execution of the President's task I urge your Ministry jointly with the Medical Holding under the Nazarbayev University to develop an industrial program of providing cancer care," the Vice Prime Minister resumed.
