After winning the individual time trial at the National Championships of Kazakhstan on Wednesday, today the rider of Astana Qazaqstan Team Dmitry Gruzdev claimed a victory in the road race. Gleb Brussensky finished the race in the second position, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Team's press service.

The road race with a total distance of 175 kilometers was held in Taldykorgan.

“The race was very tough and exhausting due to the heat, and the distance of 175 kilometers was quite a challenge. Nevertheless, I was determined to fight right from the start, so I managed to breakaway quite quickly. After that, I tried to stay ahead in the leading group the whole time, and eventually, I managed to attack and go for a solo breakaway and win. I’m very happy with this victory, after so many successes in time trials, I finally won the national championship in the road race. I will proudly wear our national champion’s jersey in my next race for the Astana Qazaqstan Team,” – said Dmitriy Gruzdev.

In addition to this victory, also the rider of Astana Qazaqstan Development Team Andrey Remkhe became the national champion of Kazakhstan in the U23 road race. Andrey managed to win two races at the National Championships of Kazakhstan this season.

“The race was incredibly tough, and it’s still hard for me to believe that I won the race. I broke away early and spent a lot of time in the lead, but we were caught, and then new attacks began. At that moment, I got a puncture and was forced to ride with a flat tire for a long time until I could get it changed. Then I thought I had no chances left, but with two laps to go, I managed to come back. I felt strong again and realized I still had a chance. Everything was decided in the final meters, where I managed to claim a victory in the sprint. I am super happy with this victory and that the national championships of Kazakhstan went so pefect for me,” – said Andrey Remkhe.
