National Sports University in Astana to be built by 2025 end
Vice-Minister of Tourism and Sports Serik Zharasbayev provided the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, with an update on the construction progress of the National Sports University in Astana, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Tourism.
As the department has observed, the construction project has now entered its second phase. During this phase, the university will complete several key facilities, including a conference hall, an administrative block, lecture halls, a library with a research center, a dining hall, and a covered main alley. Additionally, the construction of student dormitories, residential buildings for faculty members, and a medical and rehabilitation center is also planned.
The National Sports University will provide a comprehensive educational programme, encompassing specialized secondary education, master's and doctoral studies. The college will have the capacity to accommodate over 500 students, while the university will be able to accommodate more than 2,000 undergraduate students, as well as 60 postgraduate and doctoral students.
The university will provide training for future coaches, managers, sports psychologists and researchers. The sports infrastructure of the complex will provide national teams with the necessary conditions to prepare for international competitions in a range of sports, including rhythmic gymnastics, boxing, taekwondo, judo, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, rowing, basketball, volleyball, mini-football, track and field athletics and swimming.
The university is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
