NATO to continue to help Afghanistan
BRUSSELS. March 6. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ During an informal meeting of the NATO foreign ministers in Brussels the participants discussed the current political and military situation in Afghanistan; Kazinform reports.
The attention was paid to upcoming presidential election in the country, training and modernization of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), and to closer cooperation of contributors and international organizations on Afghanistan.
As to upcoming election the foreign ministers emphasized significance in rendering assistance to the Afghan Government in ensuring security and guarantees for free and transparent election.
Russia's ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin, in his turn, told journalists that NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will visit Russian on March 27, where he will take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference on Afghanistan.
