NATO to hold exercises in Georgia

BRUSSELS. April 16. KAZINFORM NATO will conduct two series of exercises in Georgia between May 6 and June 1, the alliance's central military command said Wednesday, Kazinform refers to Xinhuanet.

Nineteen countries will participate in the exercises designed to improve interoperability between the organization and its partner countries. The 19 countries are Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Britain, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) said the exercises, codenamed Cooperative Longbow 09 and Cooperative Lancer 09, were planned in spring 2008, months before the Georgia-Russia military conflict that soured NATO-Russia relations, Kazinform cites Xinhuanet.
