Natural disasters' number to increase - Kazakh Minister of Emergencies
The Minister of Emergences announced the data of the recent UN Conference in Geneva during the second meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board of the basic organization of the CIS countries on scientific and technical development of the state reserves.
The main aspect of the conference was that the number of emergency situations of different etiology is growing every time. The representatives of 180 countries, 100 research institutes, 200 non-governmental organizations, 700 UN staff working on these issues clearly came to the conclusion that the number of natural disasters will increase in fuure. It is clear that this will lead to serious consequences for the population of our countries ", V.Bozhko said.
According to him 1.3 million people in the world died in natural disasters for the last 15-20 year. In this context, the role of the state natural reserves is increasing.
"The purpose of natural resources is to ensure the safety of citizens and the state, as a whole. It has a strategic purpose, including in connection with its use in disaster management of various kinds. It is also important in connection with emerging crisis, which reduce the ability of budgets," concluded the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The meeting is attended by delegations of national reserves and industrial research institutes of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
