Nazarbayev congratulates Islam Karimov on his re-election as President of Uzbekistan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has congratulated Islam Karimov on the occasion of his re-election to the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Akorda's press service informs.

In the congratulatory telegram the Kazakh President notes that the outcome of the elections demonstrates Islam Karimov's authority among people and wide support of his well-balanced policy aimed at socioeconomic development of the country and Uzbekistan's role in the international arena. President Nazarbayev also expressed confidence that under Islam Karimov's leadership Uzbekistan will continue on the path towards prosperity. "I'm confident that brotherly relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will further strengthen at the level of strategic partnership," the telegram says. In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev wished his counterpart Islam Karimov good health and success in his work, and the friendly people of Uzbekistan - peace and prosperity.
