Nazarbayev: EXPO-2017 to be a midpoint of transition to third industrial revolution

ASTANA. January 16. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a meeting on the key issues of the country's development, the press service of Akorda informed.

The Head of State, Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, head of Presidential Administration Karim Massimov, and First Deputy Chairman of NDP "Nur Otan" Bakhytzhan Sagintayev discussed the issues of EXPO-2017 organization, measures on regions' development, in particular, elimination of the consequences of the emergency situations.

The President urged to start preparation for the EXPO-2017 right now. "It is necessary to establish a national company, finish all designing works and start construction. It is important to mould EXPO-2017 into the midpoint of transition to the third industrial revolution, which consists of alternative economy, production of hi-tech materials, renewable sources, staff training and other issues," the President said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev also stressed that at present much attention is given to the regions' development, and supported the proposal of the Government to establish the Regional Development Ministry.

Besides, the President urged to take all measures on prevention of devastating consequences of natural disasters.
