Nazarbayev floats renaming country to Kazakh Eli

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President Nursultan Nazarbayev does not exclude that the official name of our country could change to Kazakh Eli, the press service of Akorda informs.

"Our country's name ends with suffix "stan", as other Central Asian states. At the same time, foreigners are interested in Mongolia, with population of only two million people, while the name of that state does not include the suffix "stan". Perhaps, "Kazakhstan" will be renamed into "Kazakh Eli", but this issue has to be discussed with people'', said the President of Kazakhstan at a public meeting in Atyrau region.

The Head of State stressed that preserving the unity and tolerance our country will achieve all the desired goals.
