"15 years ago I decreed Astana as a capital of Kazakhstan. As a politician and a Head of State I played for high stakes. Otherwise it was impossible to demonstrate the entire world our country's capacities. Today it may safely be said that it was the right way and the idea had proved its value.  Astana is the symbol of Kazakhstan's achievements," the Kazakh President said.

Eminent Kazakh writer Abish Kekilbayev noted the transfer of the capital marked the beginning of major reforms in the framework of the "Kazakhstan-2030" Strategy. Astana is the area where results of a new economic breakthrough stand out a mile.

The former head of the Akmola oblast Zhanibek Karibzhanov emphasized that the choice of Astana as the capital aimed at future development of the whole country. Today, life has proved that the new capital is the economic engine of the country, its political and cultural center.

Majilis Speaker Kuanysh Sultanov said the decision to move the capital to Astana was made in a difficult economic situation. This was a strategic initiative, providing internal and external security of the country. Astana has become a beautiful, competitive world-class city that has great potential, and proof of this is the decision to hold the international exhibition "EXPO-2017".

The former Deputy of the Majilis Mikhail Troshikhin said the new Kazakhstan needed new capital. Astana is a city of the future, youth, and science.

According to the former Minister of Transport and Communications Yuri Lavrinenko,  only Nursultan Nazarbayev could take such a strategic decision at that difficult time, and understood that the new capital of our country would be the locomotive of Kazakhstan's economic development .
