Nazarbayev, Obama call for peaceful regulation of crisis in Ukraine

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has had a telephone conversation with President of the U.S. Barack Obama today, the Akorda's press service reports.

The sides discussed state and prospects of the Kazakh-U.S. relations and preparations for the upcoming Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague on March 24-25. The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on issues of the international and regional security. Utmost attention was paid to the political situation unfolding in Ukraine. The presidents of Kazakhstan and the U.S. called for peaceful regulation of the crisis in Ukraine through diplomatic efforts, ensuring the territorial integrity of the country. Nursultan Nazarbayev also stressed the problem should be solved through negotiations of all parties concerned. Barack Obama, in turn, noted the necessity of creation of an effective mechanism under the aegis of such international organizations as the UN and the OSCE to regulate the situation in Ukraine.
