Nazarbayev: Parliaments of Kazakhstan and Russia play important role in integration processes of our countries
During the meeting the President of Kazakhstan congratulated Naryshkin on his appointment as Speaker of the Duma and noted that the parliaments of the two countries play an important role in the integration processes of Kazakhstan and Russia.
"This year is very important to us. In May we will mark the 20th anniversary of the historic agreement - the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Russia and Kazakhstan. Many of the articles of this document have already been implemented. Given the new areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as current realities, which develop in the world, this agreement must be updated. New processes of integration - the Customs Union, Single Economic Space require the formulation of new goals and objectives," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In turn, Sergey Naryshkin said that Kazakhstan is an important strategic partner of Russia.
"We appreciate the cooperation in all fields between our two countries. It is important that it brings real results for our citizens. During the meeting we also discussed the integration within the framework of the Customs Union, the Single Economic Space and the future Eurasian Economic Union. In addition, we touched upon the parliamentary dimension of the integration projects," Cchairman of the Russian State Duma noted.
