Nazarbayev to face strong competition at presidential elections, view

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Sarsenbayev believes that Nursultan Nazarbayev will have worthy competitors at the upcoming presidential elections.

"For instance, Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev faced serious competition from Gani Kassymov and Zhambyl Akhmetbekov at the last presidential elections in 2011," Mr. Sarsenbayev told a press conference on Thursday. In his words, there are worthy competitors for the Presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan this year as well. "As you know, apart from Nursultan Nazarbayev, two candidates have been registered and are running for the Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They are Turgun Syzdykov nominated by the Communist People's Party and Abelgazy Kussainov, the Chairman of the Trade Unions' Federation. I am confident they are worthy competitors," Sarsenbayev noted.
