Nazarbayev to lay flowers to Otan Ana Monument

ASTANA. May 9. KAZINFORM /Kalamkas Abuova/ Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will lay flowers to the Monument ?Otan-Ana? and will congratulate participants of the Great Patriotic War, rear workers, all Kazakhstanis on the Victory Day in Astana; Kazinform reports.

6,2 mln people lived in Kazakhstan before the War, and over 1,7 mln people went to the front during the war. Over the half of them did not come back. Our country directed 12 rifle divisions, four national cavalry divisions, seven rifle brigades, including two national rifle brigades. Besides, about 50 regiments and battalions of various types of forces were formed in Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstanis fought heroically. 500 Kazakhstanis became the Heroes of the Soviet Union, over 100 of the Kazakh people - full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory, four out of them were twice awarded with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. They are Talgat Begeldinov, Leonid Beda, Ivan Pavlov and Sergey Lugansky. One of them ? legendary pilot of the Great Patriotic War Talgat Begeldinov celebrates the 64th anniversary of the Great Victory together with us today. Kazakh women Aliya Moldagulova and Manshuk Mametova are among the heroes of that war. Thousands Kazakhstanis took part in the partisan movement. Active participant of the partisan movement Kassym Kaissenov, Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev and Khiuaz Dospanova were awarded with high title Halyk Kaharmany. We remember names of famous commander General V.Panfilov, Hero of the Soviet Union Bauyrzhan Momyshuly and others.
