NCOC speaks on main development priorities of Kashagan at public hearing

As you know, at the end of June construction works were completed connected with the first phase of the Kashagan field, the result of which was the first oil production. Currently there is gradual increase of production volumes. In the medium-term it is planned to reach 370,000 barrels of oil per day.
For the consortium, as it was said, the highest priority in the development of the field and the start of production is protection of environment.
"The plan for 2014 envisages a set of measures, which include cleaning of waste production and consumption (projected increase in capacity oily water treatment plants ), protection and rational use of mineral resources (monitoring of subsoil ), measures for oil spill response, research and investigations relating to the protection of the environment (protection of coastal and aquatic ecosystems from the effects of the annual marine and terrestrial research, monitoring of ground water ), protection of flora and fauna monitoring of seal populations, and ornithological research. For this kind of work the consortium invites international and local experts, employs innovative techniques and the most advanced technology. We are aware of our responsibility for preservation of this sensitive area with a unique ecosystem of the sea" said the Director of Corporate Services NCOC Murat Mukhashev .
Although the total amount of funds provided to the MRP has not been made public, the organizers of the event made it clear that the consortium annually in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan and local authorities will invest millions of dollars on realization of the set of environmental measures.
