Necessary to increase funding for regional theaters - Minister Kul-Mukhammed

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - It is necessary to allocate funds for the reconstruction of regional theaters and increase funding for theater productions, Minister of Culture and Information Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed has said at the meeting of the Government today.

"Theaters that need reconstruction account for 80% of the total number of regional theaters, stage equipment has not been modernized for more than 30 years. I urge the governors of the regions, which are not planning to build new buildings (theaters), to consider allocating funds under the "Roadmap" and render assistance," the minister said.

In addition, Kul-Mukhammed noted the need to increase the amounts allocated from the regional budget for theater productions, according to the web-site of the Prime Minister.

According to him , national theaters of Kazakhstan spend more than 2 million tenge for staging a performance. Compared with theaters in Russia this is 10-15 times less.
