According to Thursday's eKantipur.com report, the guidelines advises medics on conditions when they should conduct test on patients, prescribe medicines and hospitalize.

The guideline is also expected to help confused health professionals and panicky patients to better deal with the virus, according to Dr. Syam Sundar Mishra.

During a meeting in the capital Kathmandu on Sunday, health professionals from 18 major hospitals reported a 30 percent increase in the flow of patients with the flu compared to the previous year.

Therefore, according to Mishra, officials have divided the treatment of A/H1N1 flu into three categories -- if a person is suffering from a simple flu, one does not have to do anything but rest and have hot soup, most importantly a patient must take precautionary measures -- wear mask and keep at least one-meter distance from people so that the flu is not transmitted to another member of the family.

Likewise, if a person has not so high fever and cough, one has to take medicines as directed by a health professional, whereas if a person has high fever and breathing problem and is losing weight, then a visit to the hospital and medication in isolation is recommended, Kazinform cites Xinhua.
