"Iran is developing nuclear weapons. For those who had doubts, if anyone had doubts, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) report surely removed them," he told the Knesset, Israel's parliament, in Jerusalem.

"It is important to impose sanctions, tough sanctions, on this regime - even tougher than those which were imposed in the passed days," he said.

Netanyahu also addressed other issues during a Knesset debate called for by opposition members, saying Israel wanted to "stabilize and strengthen" its peace with Egypt and Jordan amid the regional turmoil, and again calling on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to drop his preconditions for peace talks.

Abbas has said he will talk with Netanyahu only if the latter freezes Israeli construction in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem; Kazinform cites Trend.
