Neural network 'breathes life' into historical photos of Kazinform News Agency

On the occasion of the 104th birthday of Kazinform International News Agency, our colleagues have animated the historical photos from mediabase.kz archive using the Luma Dream Machine neural network. Watch and witness the entire epoch!

Kazinform News Agency was founded on August 13, 1920, as the Orenburg-Turgay Branch of the Russian Telegraph Agency ROSTA under the All-Union Central Executive Committee.

Later the Agency was renamed several times – KirROSTA, KazROSTA, and KazTASS. In 1937, it was renamed KazTAG and became a part of TASS – Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union.

In 1992, after Kazakhstan gained its independence, KazTAG was reorganized from the news agency under the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR into the Kazakh State News Agency and kept its name.

In 1997, the Kazakh News Agency KazAAG was set up on the ground of KazTAG.

Today, Kazinform has partnership relations with the media holdings of 18 countries, including TASS (Russia), Trend (Azerbaijan), Armenpress (Armenia), Kabar (Kyrgyzstan), UzA (Uzbekistan) Belta (Belarus), Yonhap (South Korea), TPS (Israel), AzerTAC (Azerbaijan), Montsame (Mongolia), CGTN (China), People’s Daily (China), Xinhua (China), Khovar (Tajikistan), WAM (UAE), Al-Jazeera (Qatar), Petra (Jordan), Middle East University (MNU), Saudi Press Agency (Saudi Arabia), QNA (Qatar), ANIA (News Council of CIS), Agenzia Nova (Italy), IRNA (Iran) and Fakti.bg (Europe).
