New akim of Oskemen named

Almat Akyshov has been appointed as akim (mayor) of Oskemen, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Almat Akyshov is a native of East Kazakhstan region. He commenced his professional career in Oskemen.

Throughout his career he held a number of poss in various government departments, including the Department of Tourism, Physical Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the poss of chief of staff of the Ulan district, deputy akim of the Ayagoz district, and head of the Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the East Kazakhstan region. He has served as akim of the Kurchum district for the past two years.

The head of the region instructed the newly appointed akim to develop and present a strategic plan for the city's advancement, including solution of environmental issues, street lighting improvement, completion of key economic projects, construction and landscaping,
introduction of a unified design code for business facilities to increase the city's tourist attractiveness.

Recall that the former mayor of Oskemen Zhaksylyk Omar left his post on November 27.
