New akim of Stepnogorsk named

In accordance with the order of the Akmola region’s akim from November 13, 2024, and in collaboration with the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gaidar Kassenov was appointed as akim of Stepnogorsk, following the approval of the Maslikhat deputies, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the regional akimat.

The deputy akim of the Akmola region, Yeldos Ramazanov, introduced the newly appointed akim of Stepnogorsk to the city's residents.

The first deputy akim of the region expressed gratitude to former akim, Alpysbai Kairzhanov, while extending the best wishes to the new akim.

In his new post Gaidar Kassenov will be responsible for fostering the city's development and creating a conducive environment for the population.

Akimat of Stepnogorsk has been tasked with implementing clear strategies to attract investment, create new jobs and develop the entrepreneurial sector, as well as the housing construction industry.

Gaidar Kassenov is a native of Atbasar district of the Akmola region. He graduated from the Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and International Business Academy.

He commenced his career in 1998 as a chief specialist in the office of the akim of Almaty district of Astana city. From 2001 to 2006, he held senior positions in commercial structures.

From 2006 to 2008, he held the positions of deputy akim and subsequently akim of Almaty district of Astana city.

From 2008 to 2015, he was Vice President for corporate development at Kaztemirtrans JSC.

Until 2021, he served as akim of Shortandy district of the Akmola region, and subsequently as akim of the town of Kosshy.

It was previously reported that Azamat Kapyshev had been appointed as the new akim of Kosshy.
