New cardiology centre to be opened soon in Astana - Minister of Healthcare
ASTANA. March 7. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Over the years of independence Kazakhstan could establish a result-oriented healthcare system. Minister of Healthcare Salidat Kairbekova said it at Kazakhstan Women's Congress held in Astana yesterday.
"Earlier we sent our patients abroad for treatment of over 20 diseases. To date their number has reduced to 8," the Minister noted.
According to S. Kairbekova, today Kazakhstani surgeons carry out operations on bone marrow transplantation and joint replacement on patients with hemophilia. More than 10 thousand cardiac surgeries were conducted in 2010 in Kazakhstan. 3 thousand of them were open-heart surgeries.
"Due to the direct support of our President, a new cardiology centre will be opened soon on the ground of the medical holding. The centre will operate on children including newborns," the Minister said.
