This cutting-edge center will serve as a vital hub for swift response to cyber threats and as a training ground for the next generation of information security professionals.
The project was implemented with the support of the Criminal Law Department of the Faculty of Law at the Alikhan Bokeikhan University. It brought together 25 professional police officers and students, who will now have the opportunity to refine their skills and apply their knowledge in practice.
The Cyber Center is dedicated to addressing critical issues such as internet fraud, hacker attacks, identity theft, and malware distribution.
In 2024, a total of 597 cases of internet fraud were recorded in the region, with 78 cases already proceeding to court.
“In light of the increasing prevalence of cyber threats, the establishment of the cyber center represents a crucial step forward. We are now in a position to respond rapidly to the challenges of the digital environment and ensure the safety of our citizens," said Yeldos Zakimov, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs.
Bektore Sultan, head of the Abai police department, and Shyryn Kurmanbaeva, president of Alikhan Bokeikhan University, signed a memorandum of understanding. This initiative reinforces the collaboration between academic institutions and law enforcement agencies, fostering an environment conducive to developing highly skilled professionals.
“The Cyber Center provides our students with new opportunities for growth and development. Practical work in such conditions allows us to train professionals who are fully prepared to meet the demands of the digital world," Kurmanbaeva said.
