New deputy akim of Karaganda region named
Former akim (mayor) of Temirtau, Oraz Taurbekov, has been appointed as deputy akim (governor) of the Karaganda region, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Erlan Kussain has been relieved of his position due to the appointment to another position. In coordination with the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Oraz Taurbekov was appointed deputy akim of the region.
Oraz Taurbekov will supervise the issues of healthcare, employment and labor safety.
Oraz Taurbekov worked his way up from the position of tax inspector to the head of regional departments in several regions. Taurbekov also has experience in senior positions in commerce.
He was a member of the Karaganda expert audit agency for seven years.
Oraz Taurbekov headed the Department of Economics of the Karaganda region.
He served as the akim (mayor) of Balkhash.
From September 2022, he held a position of akim (mayor) of Temirtau.
