New embezzlement cases found at Kazakh Education Ministry

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Kazakh Agency for Fighting Corruption-Related Crimes (Financial Police) has found more alleged multimillion-tenge frauds at the Education and Science Ministry, the agency's press release says.

As reported earlier, the Financial Police opened a probe into alleged embezzling of KZT 33 million by ministry's officials in September-November 2013. The stolen money was earmarked for the development of movement for children and young people in the East Kazakhstan and the Almaty regions as well as in Almaty city.

Three more probes were launched against the ministry's officials on January 23-27, 2014. This time for embezzling KZT 26 million allotted back in 2012 for the development of children and young people in the cities of Aktobe, Atyrau, Taldykorgan and Shymkent.

In total, the education ministry's officials embezzled nearly KZT 59 million.

The investigations are underway.
