New Eurasian Economic Union will open more opportunities for our cooperation - Nazarbayev
During the meeting the leaders have discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia within the framework of integration associations. In particular, there have been discussed the prospects of strengthening of inter-regional and cross-border collaboration as well as the expansion of partnership in energy, aerospace, nuclear and agricultural sectors.
The Kazakh President noted the importance of cross-border and inter-regional trade for deepening trade and economic partnership between the two states.
"The idea of holding the Interregional Cooperation Forum was announced 10 years ago. The results of the interaction formed the basis for the creation of the Customs Union. We are moving on to another new level of integration. Trade turnover between the neighboring regions is growing. We are holding talks in Yekaterinburg - the industrial heart of the Russian Federation. I think that new Eurasian Economic Union will open opportunities for both countries", said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
In turn, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin noted the importance and effectiveness of Interregional Cooperation Forum in developing and strengthening bilateral partnership.
"After entering the full-scale operation of the Customs Union trade activities have improved. And I would like to note that the flow of goods into Russia from Kazakhstan is increasing much faster than our flow to Kazakhstan. Russian investment in Kazakhstan amounted to about a billion dollars as for 2012 and Kazakhstan's investment in Russia reached 1 billion 700 million dollars", said Vladimir Putin.
