Academician and Professor Karl Baipakov said it at the International scientific practical conference 'Ancient and Medieval Urbanization of Eurasia: origin, development and age of Almaty city'.

K. Baipakov noted that the most valuable finding was the site of ancient town. It had forge shop with plenty of products, ceramics that dated to 10th- 11th centuries and several artifacts made of bronze. 'Now on the ground of archaeology we can confidently say that our city Almaty is around 1000 years old', the scientist said.

'Studying history of any city is a difficult process because city is a generator of historical knowledge', K. Baipakov emphasized.
