New flag of Organization of Turkic States revealed

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) reveals the renewed flag following the 11th summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

The new flag of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), adopted in a move to enhance cultural and economic ties, reveals the cultural and historic identity of the Turkic world.

The flag’s colors and ornaments are common among Turkic nations, which have shared culture and deep historic roots, with sky blue and white associating purity, nature, traditions and vast steppes, which are the symbol of strength, harmony and eternity.

The new flag introduces an octagon, which symbolizes leadership and wisdom. The sun with its forty direct rays is the symbol of light, openness and life force. The rays represent the common values and vision, illuminating the path of the Turkic world toward a brighter and more prosperous future.

The conjoined representation of a crescent and a star, a well-known symbol in the entire Turkic world, symbolizes the Turkic statehood, growth, aspiration for the future and progress.

The renewed flag was approved by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.

Addressing the OTS summit in Bishkek, the leaders of the Turkic states expressed hope that the new flag will serve as a symbol of mutual understanding and aspiration for common prosperity. According to them, the flag underlines the importance of cultural unity and represents the common goal, which is promoting a stable and peaceful future for the Turkic world.

The adoption of the new OTS flag marks a significant step toward a greater international status of the organization, which encompasses some countries of Eurasia and has a key part in its political and economic interaction.

Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev summed up the results of Kazakhstan’s presidency of the OTS.

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan as well as Turkmenistan and Hungary as observer states. The organization is headquartered in Istanbul, Türkiye.
