Mayor of new district of Kazakh capital named

39-year-old Maxat Samatuly is appointed the akim (mayor) of a new Saraishyk district of Astana. Previously he held the post of the akim of Almaty district, Kazinform News Agency reports.

He started his career in 2007 at the natural resources and nature management department in Almaty city.

Throughout 2012 and 2019 he worked at the Almaty district akim’s office. In 2019-2022 served as the deputy akim of Almaty district, and deputy akim of Baikonyr district.

In August 2022 took the post of the akim of Almaty district.

The new Saraishyk district covers 6,953 hectares of land, home to 183,000 people.
