New mayor of Semey city named

Talgat Muratov, who previously was the head of Beskaragai district, Abay region, has been named as new mayor of Semey city, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

Talgat Muratov took over from Nurbol Nursagatov. The latter served as mayor of Semey city since October 2022.

Muratov is a graduate of the Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Kazakh Innovative University and Kazakh University Ways of Communication.

Starting out as Executive Director at Stroidetal private enterprise in Semey in 1993, Muratov held the post of Deputy Director General at Shyngys Samgau in Ust Kamenogorsk in 2012-2014.

Until 2016, he worked in Beskaragai district’s architecture, construction and urban development department. Later, Muratov headed the architecture, construction and urban development department of Zharminskiy district, Abai region.

Before 2022, Muratov acted as the deputy governor of Zharminskiy district, and later the head of Beskaragai district.

Earlier, Kazakhstan named its new Minister of National Economy.
