New president of Kazakhstan’s Volleyball Federation named
Madi Takiyev has been elected as the new president of the Kazakhstan Volleyball Federation for a period from 2024 to 2028 during its reporting and election conference in Almaty, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Madi Takiyev started out as a senior accountant at the Institute of State and Law of the Science Ministry and the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan in 1998.
In 2017 and 2019, Takiyev worked as the head of the tax control department of the State Revenue Committee of the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan.
In 2019-2020, he acted as the Vice Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan.
In 2020 and 2023, he headed the Social and economic monitoring department of the Kazakh Presidential Administration.
In February 2024, he was appointed as the Finance Minister of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kazakh Tourism and Sport Minister Yermek Marzhikpayev slammed the Volleyball Federation for the poor performance at international contests, which the Federation attributed to the qualitative and age composition of the team. The country’s main volleyball national team includes athletes over 30 years old, with no younger athletes to replace them. The minister also pointed to the low level of the National Volleyball League, which falls short of global levels.
