“Over the past two years, the public transportation fleet has been renovated by 45% through the introduction of over 700 new buses. Consequently, passenger traffic has exhibited a 26% surge. For instance, the passenger flow per day has increased from an average of 755,000 passengers in 2023 to projected figures of 950,000 passengers in 2024,” Zhenis Kasymbek stated.

Implementing Bus Lane has yielded notable improvements in bus operations. It has reduced waiting times and increased the average speed of buses to 16 km/h. In sections where "smart traffic lights" have been implemented, the average speed of buses has increased to 30 km/h.

“In addition, a pilot project to monitor bus loading was presented today. In order to improve passenger control, the system will see exactly how many fare beaters are on each bus. This will allow the Transportation Control Department to work more efficiently and increase the detection of fare jumpers, thus achieving their reduction,” the akim added.

A unified transportation control center is planned for creation in the future. This center will monitor the work of buses and city utilities in real time.

As reported earlier, Kazakhstan is planning to modernize nine checkpoints on the borders with China, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
