Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with the region's water officials.

According to him, the region reconstructs water intake stations with the installation of an automated water metering system on 5 water channels with a total length of about 232 kilometers. Design and estimate documentation is being developed for the automation of 16 main and farm irrigation ditches with a length of more than 2,600 km.

The region is also implementing water-saving systems. Thus, last year, due to water-saving technologies, farmers of Kyzylorda region saved about 200 million cubic meters of water.

"Following bilateral and trilateral talks held with the neighboring countries and decisions taken in 2024, more than 15 billion cubic meters of water were supplied to the Shardara Water Reservoir. Of this amount, 4.8 billion cubic meters were collected in the irrigation period, and 103 billion cubic meters were collected off the irrigation period. 2.6 billion cubic meters of water were supplied to the North Aral Sea through the Karateren gauging station. In 2022, the Aral Sea received only 816 million cubic meters of water,” the minister said.

Earlier, the ministry said that water volume in the North Aral Sea increased, having reached 27 million cubic meters.
