Newborns birth rates up in western Kazakhstan
14,013 newborns were registered in the West Kazakhstan region last year, marking a significant increase of 2,096 compared to the 11,917 births recorded in 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to Deputy Head of the Department of Justice of the West Kazakhstan region, Yestai Rashkaliyev, the birth rate has shown consistent growth over the past three years.
“Additionally, the number of marriages in 2024 was at 4,519, a slight decrease from the 4,897 reported in 2023. Concurrently, the number of consensual divorces decreased from 2,039 in 2023 to 1,172 in 2024. Last year, 5,648 people died in the region, which is 1,061 more than in 2023,” Yestai Rashkaliyev said.
Yestai Rashkaliyev further noted that ongoing reforms in the domain of civil status registration encompass the digitalization of civil registry offices.
“Justice authorities analyze, monitor and ensure the smooth running of normative and methodological frameworks for the registration of civil status acts. They also control the work of relevant databases. In order to improve the effectiveness of measures of state support of the population, the Department of Justice of the West Kazakhstan region together with the concerned bodies is working towards updating data on digital maps of families in the region,” the Deputy Head of the Department added.
As reported earlier, the boy weighing 6,140 grams, aka a giant baby, was born on January 6 through caesarean section in the Zhambyl region.
