No HMPV cases detected in Almaty
No human metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases were detected in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to the sanitary and epidemiological control department, 12,164 acute respiratory virus cases were reported in the city for the past week, 530.59 per 100,000 population.
Besides, other non-influenza viruses including rhinovirus, bocavirus, PC virus, adenovirus, and seasonal coronavirus are circulating across the city.
As earlier reported, nearly 30 human metapneumovirus cases were detected throughout Kazakhstan since the start of the epidemiological season.
Human metapneumovirus spreads like other respiratory viruses from those infected through sneezing and coughing. Its many symptoms are coughing, runny nose, fever and headache.
Since the beginning of the epidemic season, October 1, Kazakhstan reported 2,002,335 ARVI and 941 laboratory-confirmed flu cases.
On Wednesday Enlightenment Minister of Kazakhstan Gani Beissembayev commented on the possibility of curbs at schools countrywide amid rising cases of the human metapneumovirus (HMPV).
