As earlier reported, the death toll in the Muan plane crash in South Korea has risen, with authorities now confirming that all passengers and crew members on board, except for two rescued, are presumed dead.

Carrying 181 persons, the Jeju Air jet swerved off the runway and attempted a crash landing at Muan International Airport on Sunday morning. The plane ran into a fence, causing major damage and igniting on fire that was later extinguished.

"Jeju Air will spare no effort to respond to the accident," the airline said in a statement. “We are currently working to determine the exact cause and details of the situation," a company official added, noting that the aircraft had been in operation for 15 years with no history of accidents.

Authorities have confirmed the deaths of 85 people, however the death toll continues to rise. Rescue efforts continue, with 2 people having been saved. The flight was carrying mostly South Korean passengers, along with 2 Thai nationals.
