No new farms needed to boost poultry meat production

ANA. November 9. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ -  There is no need to build new poultry farms, Chairman of the Committee for agrarian issues Romin Madinov said speaking at the Governmental Hour in Majilis.

According to Madinov, at present about 170 thousand tons of poultry meat is consumed in Kazakhstan,  60-70 percent of that meat being imported chicken.

«Since we produce 30 percent, we are able to make 100 percent. Production of 120 thousand tons of chicken meat requires about 25 thousand jobs. Besides it is at least one and a half million tons of grain that will not be exported, and will be used inside the country. And it is about USD 250 million that leave the country annually to pay the work of Belgian and American poultry farmers», - R. Madinov said.

Romin Madinov states that no new poultry farms are needed to boost poultry meat production. He suggests that the Ministry of Agriculture must bring proposals on updating the legislation in order to help functioning farms resolve their financial hardships.
