No. of people with acute intestinal infections among visitors of recreation area in Balkhash on rise

The number of people diagnosed with poisoning in the recreational area at the shore of Lake Balkhash has risen to 29, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to the sanitary and epidemiological control department of Karaganda region, the number of people with acute intestinal infections among the Doszhan guesthouse visitors in Balkhash is on the rise, as 29 people have so far sought health help, of whom 18 were hospitalized.

Balkhash town’s sanitary epidemiological department has already launched anti-epidemic measures, with its specialists leaving for the infection hotbed.

A team made up of personnel of the sanitary and epidemiological control department of Karaganda region, now visiting the town of Balkhash, has been set up. An investigation has been launched with laboratory tests being conducted, said the department.

To note, mass poisoning occurred in one of the elite recreation areas at the shore of Lake Balkhash.
