No one should be left without help – PM Bektenov on shortage of expensive drugs at clinics
At today’s weekly meeting of the Cabinet, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reminded of the President’s instruction to provide patients with rare diseases with expensive drugs, Kazinform News Agency reports.
He also reminded of the establishment of the Republican Center for Rare Diseases and revision of approaches to the treatment of these patients.
“The ministry [Ministry of Healthcare - editor] should monitor these patients and fully provide them with these medications. No one should be left without help,” the Prime Minister said.
Olzhas Bektenov tasked the ministry and Qazaqstan Halqyna Fund to determine the list and source of financing for the purchase of orphan drugs.He also tasked to promptly refine the process of obtaining e-vouchers for drugs through the Social Wallet system.
“In general, the Ministry of Healthcare should work on raising public awareness of the drug provision issues. People should know what drugs and for whom they are prescribed free of charge. The government fulfills its obligations,” he stressed.
