NOC, World Taekwondo discuss Olympic taekwondo development in Kazakhstan
The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the representatives of the International Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) and the Kazakhstan Taekwondo Federation (WT). The event took place as part of the workshops held for international judges in poomsae and kyorugi in Astana, Kazinform News Agency learned from Olympic.kz.
Those attending the meeting were the President of the Kazakhstan NOC Gennady Golovkin, Advisor to the NOC President on International Affairs Alimzhan Akayev, key officials of World Taekwondo, and head of the Kazakhstan Taekwondo Federation Kudret Shamiyev.
The sides discussed the development of Olympic taekwondo in Kazakhstan and strategic policy of World Taekwondo. Special attention was paid to the training of qualified judges and coaches, as well as the exchange of experience. The parties also discussed the prospects for the implementation of educational programs for judges.
As reported, President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee Gennady Golovkin has been appointed today the Chair of the World Boxing Federation’s new Olympic Commission.
In February 2024, Gennady Golovkin was elected the President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee.
Later, in May, he was appointed a member of Olympism 365 Commission of the International Olympic Committee.
