North Kazakhstan region harvests 3,7 mln tons of grain this year

This year agrarians in North Kazakhstan region harvested 3,7 million tons of grain, governor Gauez Nurmukhambetov said Monday, Kazinform News Agency reports.

At a press briefing at the Central Communications Service, governor Nurmukhambetov said that agriculture is the driving force of development of North Kazakhstan region.

He stressed the region remains one of the leaders in terms of agricultural produce in the country with 27 projects worth 80,4 billion tenge implemented in the region. Moreover, investments in agricultural sector will reach 200 billion tenge. Quarter of investments in agricultural sector in Kazakhstan fall at North Kazakhstan region.

Nurmukhambetov added that the region contributes 4 million tons of grain to the country’s grain fund annually, that is roughly 20% of the total harvest.

This year, according to the governor, was a challenging one for agrarians. However, they managed to harvest 3,7 million tons of grain.
