Norway to support Kazakhstan in forthcoming OSCE chairmanship - Ambassador Dag Malmer Halvorsen

sp;ASTANA.  November 17. KAZINFORM  /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Chairman of the Majilis Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security Amzebek Zholshibekov has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to our country  Dag Malmer Halvorsen in Astana today.

"From our country's experience I know that chairmanship in the OSCE will be an uneasy challenge for Kazakhstan. Norway will support your country in the forthcoming chairmanship in this Organization. In the course of its presidency Kazakhstan will help enhance the role of the region in which it plays an important role", the Norwegian Diplomat said.

A. Zholshibekov informed the foreign diplomat of the plans on holding OSCE activities in Astana - the summit of the OSCE leaders in Astana scheduled for 2010 and May conference with the participation of the OSCE parliamentarians.

"Kazakhstan is our common house", the deputy noted having highlighted importance of unity of the society for preservation of stability in the country.

The parties also focused on various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in energy and ecology as well as in development of inter-parliamentary ties.
