1992 – Kazakhstan establishes first army corps headquartered in Semipalatinsk. Later, the first Eastern Military Command is set up here. On November 13, 2003 it is reorganized into the Vostok Regional Command.
1996 – Kazakhstan Institute of Metrology is established.
1997 – Kazakhstan’s Embassy opens its doors in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
2015 - During the EXPO-2015 closing ceremony, Milano passes the baton of the next specialized exhibition to Kazakhstan. The Astana EXPO-2017 specialized exhibition was successfully held in the Kazakh capital.
2017 – President of Kazakhstan presents King of Jordan with Nazarbayev Prize for a Nuclear-Weapons-Free World and Global Security.
2017 – By a decision of Director General of the UNESCO Irina Bokova, Kazakhstan’s Almaty joins the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which unites today 180 cities in 72 countries.
