EVENTS

1988– The Aral Sea Days are held in Moscow.

2005 - Members of the sports expedition Kazakhstan-Antarctica – 2005 reach the summit of the second unnamed peak of Antarctica and name it as ‘Astana’ – in honor of the Kazakh capital.

2006- The Shakarim Kudaiberdiuly Museum unveils in Zhidebay gorge, Semipalatinsk region. Shakarim was a great Kazakh philosopher and composer.

2008 – Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye sign agreement on establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) at the meeting of the parliamentary officials in Istanbul.

2013– Kazakhstan is elected for the first time to the World Heritage Committee for a four-year period (2013-2017).

2015– The Astana Square opens in the Dutch city of Rotterdam in honor of the Kazakh capital.

2016 – In Paris, agreements are reached to keep the eight Kazakhstani monuments of the first Chang'an-Tianshan segment of the Silk Road in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

2016– Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Youth Forum kicks off in Baku.

2020– The Department of Kazakh Literature and Culture unveils at the San Francisco Public Library. More 400 books in Kazakh, Russian and English were donated to the library.

2022 – Incumbent President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wins the early presidential elections with 81.3% of the votes.
