EVENTS

1893 - Danish linguist and polyglot Vilhelm Thomsen makes a unique discovery in the world of science by deciphering the Old Turkic script. It heralds the new chapter in the history of the study of the Turkic languages.

1916 – The first issue of Alash newspaper is released in Semipalatinsk.

1926 – The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party makes a decision to construct the Turkestan-Siberian Railway (Turksib).

2006 – The first Congress of the Union of Scholars of Kazakhstan is held in Almaty.

2009 – The National Scientific Laboratory of Collective Use of Information and Space Technologies is founded.

2010 – Baq.kz news agency is set up to unite all mass media in the Kazakh language.

2011 – The Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan welcomed a unique one-piece exhibition ‘Abai’s Manuscript’.

2015 – The Republic of Kazakhstan joins the trade and economic cooperation agreement between the Islamic Cooperation Organization Member States.

2016 – 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist, para swimmer Zulfiya Gabidullina wins the Altyn Adam Award in the nomination “Para Athlete of the Year”.

2016 – The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania is unveiled in Pavlodar.

2017 – Kazakhstan’s chess player Zhansaya Abdumalik wins the World Junior and Girls Under 20 Chess Championship-2017 in Tarvisio, Italy.

2019 – The Kazakh drama “The girl and the sea” by Azizzhan Zairov and Mukhmed Mamyrbekov hauls the Best Film award in the Panorama section and the film “Aruakh” (Spirit) by Khuat Akhmetov is awarded the Best Script award at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

2020 – The international scientific video conference is held as part of the celebrations of the 1,150th anniversary of scholar and thinker Al Farabi in Kuala Lumpur.

2021 –The archosaur fossil is unearthed in Atyrau region.

2022 - Enactus Kazakhstan Country Office hosts the Enactus Kazakhstan Business Collaboration Forum.
