Number of children killed in road accidents in Kazakhstan rises by 14%
The number of children killed in road accidents in Kazakhstan rose by 14% from January to October 2023, while the number of those injured increased by 3%б Aktoty Boranova, chief inspector of the administrative police committee of the Kazakh MIA, said at a briefing today, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to her, more than half of those injured children are passengers, and the other half are pedestrians.
In most cases, the injured children were transported by adults in cars without restraint devices (child booster seats, adapters, etc.), or unfastened, she says.
At the same time, she adds that crossing the roadway in an undesignated place, on a red traffic light, or in front of vehicles were the main causes of the road accidents involving pedestrians.
