Nursultan Nazarbayev, Catherine Ashton met in Astana
ASTANA. November 30. KAZINFORM President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met today with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

In a meeting the sides debated issues of economic and trade relations between Kazakhstan and the EU, Kazakhstan's WTO accession, regional security and CIS integration, etc.
"We noted that the EU intends to further and strengthen our relations with Kazakhstan under the enlarged partnership and cooperation agreement, the first such an agreement in Central Asia. We paid attention to trade relations. We support Kazakhstan in its WTO negotiations. We recognize those deep and strong economic ties between Kazakhstan and the EU," C. Ashton told a briefing after the meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The parties also focused on the EU strategy for Central Asia.
